Windows 7: Side-by-side configuration invalid - that's why
If the error "Side-by-side configuration invalid" occurs under Windows 7 when starting a program or service, there are two ways to fix this. We'll show you how it's done.
Windows 7 side-by-side configuration invalid - uninstall the program
If it is just a small program that suddenly does not want to start, a new installation can help.
- Click the Windows button at the bottom left of the screen.
- The start menu opens in which you select "Control Panel" on the right.
- Here you will find the "Uninstall a program" option under the "Programs" category. Here you can see all installed programs.
- Right-click on the desired program. The context menu opens by clicking on "Uninstall".
- Now follow the further steps in the uninstallation program.
Now you can reinstall the program, for example from an installation DVD. You can also find many free programs in our download area.
- Note that certain configurations or saves can also be deleted. So if you have made many changes to the program, installing Visual C ++ 2012 may help you.
Install Visual C ++ 2012 to fix faulty side-by-side configuration
If a new installation was not successful, you should install the "Visual C ++ 2012 Redistributable" program execution environment. If the program is already installed, it will be reinstalled - this may also remove defective DLL library files.
- Download Microsoft's Visual C ++ Redistributable 2012.
- There click on "Download" and select the required installer. Choose between the installation program for x64 and x86 systems.
- Click on "Next" and start the installer after the download. Now follow the further instructions to install the program.
