Causes of too quiet sound in Windows 7
- First, you should install the latest audio drivers for your system. You can usually find them on the website of the manufacturer of your sound chip. You can also use the Realtek High Definition Audio Codecs for many onboard sound cards.
- Right click on the speaker icon at the bottom right of the screen and select "Playback Devices". Then select your current playback device from the list with the right mouse button and click on "Properties".
- Click on the "Levels" tab and move the slider all the way to the right. Confirm with OK".
- Now select the "Communication" tab and check "Do nothing". Confirm with OK".
- Then click with the left mouse button on the speaker symbol at the bottom right of the screen and select the "Mixer" option. Make sure that the control is in the upper third of all programs listed and that none of the audio sources is muted.
