If you want to reinstall Windows 7 Starter, you will have to download the Windows version in most cases. We'll show you how to do it step by step.
Step 1: Download Windows 7 Starter
- In the best case, Windows 7 Starter is available as a CD. In this case you can jump directly to the last paragraph. Otherwise, you will need to download Windows 7 Starter and install it from a DVD or USB stick.
- You can download Windows 7 Starter using the product key on the following Microsoft website. You can read it out with the Windows Product Key Viewer.
- If this option does not work, download Windows 7 Home Premium. Before downloading, choose between 32- and 64-bit versions.
- Then download the tool "eicfg_removal_utility.zip" from winisoutils at the bottom of the website. Start the contained "eicfg_remover.exe" and select the downloaded Windows 7 ISO file. This turns Windows 7 Home Premium into a universal Windows version.
Step 2: Transfer Windows 7 Starter to USB stick or DVD
- Download the Windows 7 USB / DVD Download Tool and install it.
- In the first step, select the Windows 7 ISO file.
- You can then decide whether you want to transfer the file to a USB stick or DVD. This process can take several minutes.
Step 3: install Windows 7 Starter
- Insert or insert the USB stick or DVD into the computer and restart the computer.
- Now the installation of Windows 7 Starter should begin. If this is not the case, you must first change the boot order in the BIOS.
- At the beginning of the installation you have to choose Windows 7 Starter. If you choose a different version of Windows, you can install it, but you cannot activate it later.
