Windows 7 no longer starts after update
This guide shows you what you can do if Windows 7 does not start after an update.
Update installed: Windows 7 no longer starts
- If Windows 7 freezes during the installation of the update, it often helps to switch off the PC via the power button and then restart it.
- However, things get a bit more complicated when Windows displays an error message or a blue screen after a recently installed update.
- In such a case, you should restore your system to an earlier point in time using a system restore if possible. The prerequisite for this is that you have previously created recovery points.
- To do this, insert the Windows 7 data carrier into the drive of your computer and boot from the DVD or USB stick. You can reset your PC using the "System Restore" item in the menu. To do this, follow the steps of the wizard.
- If you have not set a restore point and your PC still does not start, you should reinstall Windows completely. However, you should definitely back up your data beforehand.
- We explain in detail how to reinstall Windows 7 on your PC in this manual.
