Windows 7: wrong time - what to do?
If you see the wrong time in Windows 7, there can be several reasons. We'll tell you the most common causes and what you can do about it.
Set the Windows time manually
If you have intentionally or accidentally changed the time yourself, you can easily set the correct time again. To do this, first click on the clock and then on "Change date and time settings". Then select "Change date and time" and enter the correct time. Confirm your entry with "OK".
Change the battery from the mainboard
If the Windows clock keeps going wrong, the battery of your mainboard could be empty. You can find out how to replace them in the instructions for use of your mainboard.
Set the correct time zone in Windows
It is also possible that the wrong time zone is set in Windows. You can set the correct time zone as follows: First click on the clock and then on "Change date and time settings". Then select "Change time zone" and then select the correct time zone from the drop-down menu. You can determine your correct time zone here.
Change server for automatic synchronization
Windows 7 regularly synchronizes the time over the Internet. The server "time.windows.com" is used by default. If this setting causes problems, you can choose a different server. To do this, first click on the clock and then on "Change date and time settings". Then select the "Internet time" tab and then click on "Change settings". Now you can choose a different server from the drop-down menu. "pool.ntp.org" is also considered a reliable alternative.
