Windows 7: Show additional icons in the notification area
To show the icons in the notification area under Windows 7, it only takes a few small steps. This is how you design your taskbar individually and show or hide symbols as you wish.
Show notification area of the taskbar under Windows 7
The right part of the taskbar, in which the clock is located, is called the notification area. To display symbols there or to switch off superfluous symbols, follow the steps below:
- Right-click on a free part of the taskbar (not on an icon).
- Select "Properties" in the dropdown menu and you will be taken to the menu in which all settings for the start menu and taskbar are listed.
- Directly under the first tab "Taskbar" are in the middle area the settings for the notification area (see picture). There click on "Customize".
- A new window will appear. Here you can define a behavior for all symbols. This means you can set when the symbols light up or you can completely hide unwanted icons. If you cannot make any settings, uncheck "Always show all icons and notifications on the taskbar".
