Windows 8.1: Uninstall apps
If you want to uninstall apps under Windows 8.1, only a few steps are necessary. With just a few clicks in the start menu, you can disconnect yourself from pre-installed applications and keep your system clean.
How to delete apps on Windows 8.1
Basically, you have to consider the difference between apps and normal Windows programs. For apps - the programs that you can download from the integrated Windows 8.1 store - Microsoft has installed a particularly quick uninstallation solution:
- Find the app you want to remove from the Start menu.
- Right-click on the corresponding tile and select the "Uninstall" item.
- Confirm again and Windows will delete the app.
- Note: If there is no "Uninstall" option for a tile, it is usually a link to a fixed Windows tool such as a calculator or paint. Here you can only remove the tile, but not the program.

You can go the same way for conventional Windows programs. However, after clicking "Uninstall" you will be redirected to the Control Panel. As usual with older versions of Windows, you can select a program from the list and remove it from the computer with a click on the Uninstall button.
