Windows 8.1: Organize apps by categories
The large overview of all apps is even easier to access under Windows 8.1. You can also sort them by category. This can be useful, for example, to find and remove unnecessary apps with similar functions. On the other hand, you can move entire categories to the start screen very quickly.
Organize app overview by category in Windows 8.1
- First go to the start menu with the Windows key or the new start button.
- At the bottom left you will find a small circle with an arrow pointing down. If you click on it, the overview opens.
- By default, all apps are sorted alphabetically. Click on "by name" at the top left next to the "Apps" heading and select "by category" instead.
- The overview now consists of two parts that follow one another seamlessly: First, all pure apps are listed by category, followed by all desktop programs.
- If you want to move an entire category to the start screen, just right-click on the tiles and then select "Pin to" Start ". The apps then appear as a new group on the start menu.
- In the start menu you can name whole groups and make them clearer. You can find out how this works in this practical tip.
