Windows 8.1: Remove library
This practical guide shows you how to remove both individual libraries and the entire area under Windows 8.1.
Remove individual library in Windows 8
- Simultaneously press the [Windows] + [E] keys so that the Explorer opens.
- Click on the "Libraries" category in the navigation bar on the left to get an overview of all entries.
- Then open the context menu with the right mouse button and select "Delete".
Windows 8.1: Hide entire library
- Simultaneously press the [Windows] + [E] keys to open the Explorer.
- Click on the "Navigation area" button at the top under the "View" tab.
- Deactivate the "Show libraries" option here.
Windows 8.1: Remove library completely
- Simultaneously press the [Windows] + [R] keys so that the "Execute" command opens.
- Enter "regedit" here and click "OK". Then the registry editor starts.
- Open the path "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Explorer \ Desktop \ NameSpace" in the navigation bar on the left.
- Delete the key "{031E4825-7B94-4dc3-B131-E946B44C8DD5}" here.
- After a restart, the library is completely removed.
