Windows 8.1: Change Windows password
For security reasons, you should change your password for Windows 8.1 regularly. We show you how it works.
Windows 8.1 change password - how it works
- Move the mouse into the lower right corner of your screen and click on Settings in the flyout menu.
- Click on "Change PC settings" at the bottom.
- Under "User" you can see your account information. In the login options you will find the "Change password" button. Here you can set the new password.
Change Windows password if the PC belongs to a domain
If your PC belongs to a domain, the administration of the passwords and the frequency of the change is usually in the hands of the system administrator. In this case, proceed as follows:
- Press the key combination "CTRL + ALT + DEL".
- You will now see, among other things, the item "Change password". You only have this option if your PC is part of a domain. Click on it and follow the instructions.
