The "All apps" overview is useful for finding a specific app. Instead of opening the Windows 8 Charms bar and then the search field, you can also call "All Apps" with a special shortcut directly from the desktop.
Create "All Apps" shortcut on the desktop
- In Windows 8 or 8.1, first switch to the desktop.
- Right-click on a free space there and then select the context command »New | Shortcut".
- As a target, add the special shell call "% windir% \ explorer.exe shell ::: {2559a1f8-21d7-11d4-bdaf-00c04f60b9f0}" in the input field.
- Click on "Next", for example enter "All Apps" as the name and finally click on "Finish".
- Finally, right-click the link again. Use the context command »Pin to start« to position the symbol as an additional small tile in the start screen of the apps. From there you can always quickly access the overview and a faster start menu for the apps.
- In addition, you can also use the context command to "Pin to taskbar" to enable direct access from the desktop view.
