Windows 8: Delete old accounts from the store
You can easily delete old and no longer required accounts from the Windows Store. We show you how it works.
Delete unnecessary computers and accounts from the Windows Store
If you access the Windows Store with multiple devices and thus accounts, you may receive an error message that the limit of five linked computers has been exceeded. This can also happen if you have registered with test installations. To fix the problem:
- Open the "Store" app.
- Use the key combination [Windows] + [C] or by positioning the mouse pointer in a corner on the right to open the Charms bar.
- There you click on "Settings" and then on "Your Account".
- Under the entry »Your computers« you can see all registered computers. If you no longer need an account, click on "Remove" and then on "Confirm". This removes the assignment of the computer and eliminates the error message.
Note: You can no longer use apps from the Windows Store that have already been installed on the logged-off computer.
