Windows 8: Set up image code

In addition to the traditional method of protecting your user account with a password, you can also set up an image code in Windows 8. When you register, a picture of your choice will appear. In this picture you can now draw the gestures you have selected with the mouse or with your fingers to log on. And this is how you activate the image code for your user account.
Set up image code for login
Set up your personal picture code via the PC settings:
- Log in with the user with whom you want to set up the image code.
- Make the "Charm Bar" visible by moving the mouse to the right edge of the screen.
- Click on the bottom "Charm" titled "Settings" and then click on "Change PC Settings" at the bottom.
- In the settings on the left, click on "User" and then on "Create image code".
- Follow the instructions: Choose an image from your computer to display when you log in. Then draw three gestures on this picture with your mouse, with which you can later log in the user. This can be, for example, a click or the drawing of an invisible line. The position of the gestures is important. For security, you will need to repeat these gestures again.
- Finally click on "Finish" and your personal image code is set up.
Choose a picture that has few motifs to avoid having to spend a long time looking for the place where you are making your gestures when signing in. Also limit yourself to very simple gestures or simple geometric objects such as a triangle or a trapezoid: it is particularly annoying to use the mouse to make complicated gestures before you reach the start screen.
