By default, all apps in Windows 8 run in full-screen mode; if you share the screen, two apps can be edited at the same time. All that is required is a swipe gesture or a mouse click.
Split screen in Windows 8 with swipe gesture or mouse click
To have two Windows 8 apps share the screen, first open one of the apps you want to work with.
- Move the mouse or your finger to the top of the app
- Swipe or click and drag the app to the left or right edge of the screen. It now only takes up a third of the screen.
- If you now start the second app, it will automatically open in the remaining two thirds of the screen.
- You can swipe or pull the "dividing wall" between the two to reverse the division of the screen.
Unfortunately, with this method you can only split the screen into two areas of 1 and 2 thirds respectively. A flexible division is not possible.
