Windows 8: disable screen saver
Screen savers are no longer of any real use in modern monitors. You can therefore safely deactivate them. In Windows 8, follow this guide.
Disable the screensaver in Windows 8
Screen savers were originally intended to prevent immovable images from burning into old tube monitors. This can no longer happen with newer monitors. Here the screensavers are just a nice gimmick that can increase the power consumption of the computer. If you would like to deactivate it, proceed as follows:
- Right-click on an empty space on the desktop. In the context menu, select the "Customize" option.
- In the "Customization" window, click on the "Screen saver" icon in the lower right corner.
- In the "Screen Saver" section, click the drop-down list. Select the "(None)" option here.
- Confirm your selection with the "OK" button.
