Windows 8: Change DNS server - how it works

If you want to use a specific DNS server under Windows 8, you can change the address at any time. We'll show you how it's done.
Change DNS server in Windows 8
Tip: You can use the DNS server for connections over IPv4 as well as over IPv6. We show you the exact difference in this practical tip.
- Press the [Windows] and [R] keys simultaneously so that the "Execute" command opens.
- Enter "ncpa.cpl" here and confirm with "OK". Now the "network connections" open.
- Right-click on the desired connection and select the "Properties".
- Now click on the "Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP / IPv4)" or "Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP / IPv6)".
- You can now enter a DNS server of your choice using the "Properties" button.
- For the DNS servers from Google, enter the addresses 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 for IPv4. For IPv6, the identifier is 2001: 4860: 4860 :: 8888 and 2001: 4860: 4860 :: 8844.
