Windows 8: Share the printer - so it'll work

Windows 8: Enable printer sharing
- Open the control panel. To do this, enter the search term "Control Panel" on the start page. You can simply type, the search field appears automatically.
- Switch to the "Small Icons" icon view at the top right and click on "Devices and Printers".
- Right-click on the printer you want to share and select the "Printer Properties".
- Select the "Release" tab.
- Here click on "Change sharing options". You may have to enter the administrator password.
- Now activate the "Share printer" option and enter any name under which the printer should be displayed on the network.
- Save the settings with "OK".
Turn off password-protected sharing
The printer can now be used by other computers on the network. However, only if the release PC is switched on and connected to the network. In addition, users need the credentials for the sharing computer. You can also switch off the password-protected release.
- Open the Control Panel again and click on "Network and Sharing Center" in the icon view.
- On the left click on "Change advanced sharing settings".
- You can deactivate password protection under "Password-protected sharing".
- Save the settings by clicking on "Save changes".
