Windows 8: Printer is not displayed - this may be the reason
If your printer is not displayed under Windows 8, this may be due to a faulty driver. In this practical tip we will tell you what you can do about it.
Printer is not displayed in Windows 8 - you can do that
The following tips will help you to ensure that the printer appears correctly again in Windows 8:
- First, you should make sure that the printer is turned on and that you have installed the latest driver for your printer. To do this, go to "Control Panel"> "Device Manager" and right-click on your printer under "Printer". Select "Update Driver".
- Alternatively, you can obtain the latest driver from the manufacturer's website or via Windows Update. However, make sure that you select the correct driver.
- In some cases, the printer may not be displayed correctly even after all the required drivers have been successfully installed. Therefore, install them directly from the manufacturer.
- The old Windows 7 driver often works under Windows 8. So try this driver.
- Sometimes it can also help if you add the printer again under "Devices and Printers" by clicking on "Add printer" so that it is then displayed.
- Once the printer is properly turned on again, you should set it as the default printer.
