Windows 8: Activate firewall
You should always activate your firewall - even under Windows 8. We'll show you how.
How to activate your firewall in Windows 8
A firewall protects your computer from possible attacks, which is why you should always have the firewall activated. Proceed as follows to activate:
- Move the mouse into the upper right corner of the screen and click on the "Search" field. Type "Control Panel" and press Enter.
- A new window with the control panel opens. Find the "Windows Firewall" item here and click on it.
- Select "Turn Windows Firewall on or off" on the left side of the screen. You will now see various network types for which you can set a firewall.
- Activate the firewall by clicking on the corresponding symbol (see screenshot). You may now be asked for confirmation or the administrator password. Enter it and confirm activation.
- Do the same with the other networks until you have activated all firewalls.
If you ever have to switch off your firewall, this practical tip will show you how it works.
