Start Windows 8 in Safe Mode - Here's how
To get into safe mode, you have to take a small detour under Windows 8. We'll show you how it's done.
Windows 8: Start Safe Mode
Theoretically, the fastest way to get into safe mode under Windows 8 is to press the "Shift" and "F8" keys at the same time when you start the computer. However, the window in which Windows accepts your input is extremely small. Therefore, you would probably have to restart the computer more often before it works. Alternatively, you can follow these instructions:
- Start Windows or lock your computer with the key combination "Windows" + "L". At the bottom right you will find the icon for switching off the computer.
- Click on it, hold down the "Shift" key on your keyboard and click on "Restart". You will then be asked to be patient.
- You will now be taken to the boot menu. Click Troubleshoot, Advanced Options, and Startup Settings in turn.
- Click the "Restart" button below and press "4" on your keyboard when prompted to start Safe Mode.
