Windows 8: Internet Explorer tile has disappeared
If the tile of Internet Explorer has disappeared under Windows 8, you can no longer use the browser in the Metro design, but only in the normal Destkop design. We'll show you how to fix it.
Windows 8: Internet Explorer no longer available in Metro design
If Internet Explorer is no longer set as the default browser, it no longer starts as an app, but as a classic program.
- Press the "Windows" key to switch from the desktop to the start screen.
- Type in "Standard" there, the search opens and provides "Standard Programs" as the search result.
- Select "Standard Programs" and switch back to the desktop. Click on "Set default programs" above.
- Click on Internet Explorer in the program list on the left and click on "Set this program as standard" in the lower right corner (see picture).
- Internet Explorer now starts again in the new Windows 8 design.
