You have a new computer with Windows 8 but you still lack the well-known iTunes app? Here we show you how to install the Apple software on Microsoft's new operating system.
Not a real Windows 8 app
With the advent of tablets and ultrabooks with Windows, Microsoft and Apple are becoming increasingly tough competitors. You, as a customer, will now also feel this: There is currently no real iTunes app in tile design and, according to Apple, it will not exist either. The Windows store remains empty regarding iTunes. This should particularly annoy Windows RT users: Due to this fact, it is currently not possible to bring the software to your own tablet.
The classic way as the only solution
Owners of Windows 8 full versions do not have to do without iTunes entirely, but only the desktop variant known from earlier Windows versions remains. However, you will still get to this as before:
- The classic iTunes is available for download from CHIP (64bit) or in a 32bit version.
- After a successful download, run the installation program as usual and select the target directory for the software.
- Once the installation is complete, you can open iTunes directly from the desktop. There is also an inconspicuous tile, which in turn only leads to the desktop version and has no live properties.
- The actual software works like previous versions of Windows, no change is necessary here.
