Windows 8: Protect folder with password - how it works
Protecting a normal folder in Windows 8 with a password is not immediately possible. But not impossible either - we will show you exactly how this works.
Windows 8: Provide folder with password
- The "WinRAR" program is suitable for this. Download this and install it on your computer.
- Then right-click on the folder to open the context menu. Appropriate options for processing with WinRAR are now displayed.
- Go to "Add to archive ...".
- Then a new window opens with various options for the "RAR file". Click here on the field "Set password ...".
- Enter your desired password here twice and check the box "Encrypt file names". Then confirm with "OK".
- When you have made all other settings, click "OK" in the main window.
- If you now open the finished RAR file, you will first be asked for the password before you can access the files it contains.
