Windows 8: Open ports in the firewall - how it works
For some programs or games you have to open ports manually via the firewall. We show you how this works under Windows 8 in this guide.

Note: If the port is not required permanently, you should close it after use for security reasons.
- Open the Control Panel and select the "Windows Firewall" item under the "System and Security" category.
- Click the "Advanced Settings" option on the left.
- Switch to the "Incoming rules" category at the top left and click the "New rule" button on the right.
- Now an assistant starts. Here you can select the "Port" option and then activate the port.
- Your settings are saved using the "Finish" button.
