Use this step-by-step guide to create a keyboard shortcut that you can use to put your computer to sleep. The following picture gallery illustrates these steps with illustrations.
- Right click on the desktop and go to "New" -> "Shortcut".
- A new window is opening up. Enter "% windir% \ System32 \ rundll32.exe powrprof.dll, SetSuspendState" as the location of the element.
- Give the shortcut a name, such as "Hibernation", and confirm with "Finish". A new icon is created on your desktop.
- Right-click on the new icon and select "Properties".
- In the "Link" area there is a field called "Key combination". Enter any letter, number or other character on your keyboard here, for example [R], such as "idle".
- Confirm with OK". You can now put your computer to sleep using [Ctrl] + [Alt] + [R] or [Alt Gr] + [R]. Alternatively, you can of course double-click the shortcut on the desktop.
