How to set the default browser in Windows 8
If you install a new browser on your PC, it usually asks itself whether it should also be set up as a standard browser. If that didn't work or if you want to make the change later, the easiest way to do this is via the PC settings in Windows 8:
- Enter the term "standard programs" on the Windows 8 tile surface. Click on the search result "Settings for standard apps".
- In the "Web browser" area, select the name of the currently configured standard browser. A new window opens in which all installed browsers are listed.
- If you click on the name of the desired browser, the change is immediately applied.
Set the browser as the default browser using the internal settings
Alternatively, you can also set the browser as the new standard in the settings of the respective browser. The corresponding instructions for Internet Explorer, Chrome and Firefox can also be found in our practical tips.
