Windows 8: Change keyboard language
If you want to write in another language under Windows 8, you can change the keyboard in the settings. You will usually already find a corresponding entry for English and German. You can install another language later.
Switch keyboard language under Windows 8
- Open the Windows search with the key combination "Windows + S" and enter "Control Panel" in the input mask. Click on the result there.
- Then select the "Change input methods" option under "Time, language and region".
- Here you will find an overview of the languages already installed. Select an entry and click on "Options" on the right.
- Complete the process by clicking on "Set as primary language".
Add new language in Windows 8
If you do not have the keyboard language you want, you can download it free of charge.
- Follow steps 1-2 as above.
- Then click on the "Add language" button in the menu bar.
- Select a language from the list and confirm by double-clicking.
- Now open the options and click on "Download and install language packs". After installation, you can select the language as described above.
If you are bothered by the Windows 8 on-screen keyboard, you can deactivate it in the registry.
