Windows 8 and 10: Change drive letter

Under Windows 8 and 10, each drive (e.g. a hard disk) is assigned a drive letter. If you want to change it or need more detailed information about the drive, you can use the "Disk Management" menu.
Change drive letter in Windows 8 or Windows 10 Control Panel
You can easily access the data carrier management via the integrated Windows search.
- Press the [Windows] key to open the start screen in Windows 8 or to open the start menu in Windows 10 with the search.
- Enter "Disk Management" and open the first result. In Windows 10, the settings menu is called "Create and format hard disk partitions".
- After a short loading time you will get a list of all drives in your system. Right-click on the drive whose letter you want to change and select "Change drive letter and path".
- Select "change" and set the new letter. Then confirm with "OK".
