If you want to install Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 on your computer, you can do this without a CD. We'll show you how to install Windows quickly and easily without a CD.
Windows 8 and 8.1: installation without CD
- Windows 8 and 8.1 can be easily downloaded using a download tool from Microsoft. The links to this can be found in the next section. You can then start the installation directly or transfer it to a USB stick or CD.
- You need a valid product key or an upgrade key for installation. If you can't find it right now, a standard key will help you to install it. However, you cannot bypass the later activation of Windows.
- For Windows 8, the default key is XKY4K-2NRWR-8F6P2-448RF-CRYQH. For Windows 8.1 you need a different key depending on the version. You can find this on the Microsoft website.
Instructions: Install Windows 8 and 8.1 without CD
- Download the Windows 8 Setup Tool or the Windows 8.1 Setup Tool and start the file.
- The tool starts after a short time. Now enter your product key or upgrade key.
- The key is then checked and the associated Windows version is downloaded. This could take a while.
- Now either select the "Install now" option to install Windows 8 directly, or choose to create a Windows USB stick under "Create installation medium".
- Note: In order to install Windows 8 via USB stick, you may have to change the boot sequence.
