Windows 8: Set up a second monitor
You can also connect a second monitor under Windows 8. We will show you how to set up the device correctly afterwards.
Connect the monitor to the Windows 8 PC
Before you can set up the second monitor, you must first properly connect it to the computer:
- The cable types DVI and HDMI are particularly suitable for this. You can also use the old standard VGA.
- Make sure that all cables are connected and that the power to the second monitor is established.
Set up second monitor in Windows 8
Start your computer and turn on your monitor. Then you can start the configuration:
- In Windows 8, you can use your screen in several ways: You can mirror the same image on both monitors, expand your workspace across both monitors, or transfer the desktop to only one of the two devices.
- Change the setting by moving the mouse into the lower right corner. The Windows 8 menu appears. Now click on "Devices"> "Second Screen". Here you have the various options to choose from.
- You may have to adjust the screen resolution of the second monitor afterwards. Note, however, that the two monitors must have the same resolution in mirror mode.
