With Windows 10 Microsoft wants to introduce the Interactive Tiles. We explain the various functions of the Interactive Tiles.
How the Interactive Tiles work in Windows 10
Microsoft was already thinking about the Interactive Tiles in 2013. However, these are still under development and will only appear at a later date due to an update for Windows 10.
- The Interactive Tiles represent a logical development of the tiles of the apps that were previously known from Windows 8 and 8.1. So far, the tiles in the Start menu have not changed under Windows 10 either.
- Windows 8 already has so-called live tiles. These are updated automatically and show, for example, the current weather forecast. With the Interactive Tiles, Microsoft goes a step further in Windows 10 and allows the apps in the Start menu to be used without actually opening them.
- In this way, the tiles become a kind of mini-app. Interactive tiles are likely to be noticeable by a small icon in the lower right corner that you can use to maximize the tile.
- Microsoft cited the calculator as an example. If you have attached the calculator to the start menu, you can either open it normally or use it as an interactive tile. This leaves the start menu open, the tile of the computer is enlarged a little and simple calculations can be typed in quickly without opening the app properly.
