Windows: Bypass automatic repair
If you do not want to use the automatic repair by Windows, you can switch off the function. Even if you are in an endless loop of automatic repair, we will help you here.
Windows: when can I turn off automatic repair?
Note: You can only end the "Automatic repair" loop by restarting the PC with the power button and selecting the "Refresh PC" option instead of "Automatic repair". Your personal documents are retained. If you then want to deactivate the automatic repair, please note:
- Deactivating the automatic repair makes sense if Windows wants to carry out the process more and more frequently.
- Although this can be a Windows error, it can also point to a deeper problem in the Windows system.
- In particular, if the repair takes place frequently, it may not be necessary at all. For security of your data you should not switch off the function for no reason.
Bypass automatic repair on Windows
- First open the command prompt as administrator. From Windows 8 you can find the "Command Prompt (Administrator)" using the key combination [Windows] + [X].
- Now enter the command "bcdedit / set recoveryenabled NO" and confirm the entry with the [Enter] key.
- If you would like to reactivate the function later, use the "bcdedit / set recoveryenabled YES" command.
- Note: If this command does not work, use "fsutil repair set c: 0" to deactivate and "fsutil repair set c: 1" to activate.
