Windows: Eject blocked drive
If you want to eject a blocked drive, there are several methods. We will show you how to solve the problem.
Eject blocked drive under Windows
- Windows: Press the [Windows] and [E] keys simultaneously so that the Explorer opens. Right-click the drive and select the "Eject" option.
- Restart: If the computer is still fully functional, a simple restart of the system usually helps. Immediately after restarting, press the eject button before loading Windows.
- Manual opening: You can also open the drive mechanically using a paper clip or needle. On laptops you will find a small hole on the eject button, on Dekstop computers you must first open the drive's privacy cover. Gently press the paper clip or needle into the hole until the drive opens.
- Check hardware: If the problem is still not solved, check the drive connections. Turn off the computer, press the power switch on the back of the computer and remove the power plug. Unscrew the PC and remove any dust in the connector of the drive.
