Windows: Merge files using the command line
This practical tip shows you how to merge files using the console under Windows.
Windows command line: Merge files in the console
If you are working with several files of the same type, combine them using the following steps:
- First open the command line. To do this, click on the Windows symbol in the menu bar and enter "cmd" for the command prompt.
- In the console, navigate to the folder that contains the files you want to merge.
- You combine all text files from this folder into one file by entering "copy * .txt new.txt" in the console without quotation marks. (see the screenshot)
- After the command, the "new.txt" file contains the contents of all txt files.
