You can easily view the file extensions in Windows. Hidden in the "folder and search options" of Windows Explorer, you can make the appropriate setting. We show you this for Windows 7 to 10.
Show file extensions in Windows 7
To display the file extensions in Windows 7, proceed as follows:
- Open a folder.
- Click Organize> Folder and Search Options> View under the Back button in the upper left corner.
- Uncheck "Hide extensions for known file types".
Show file extensions in Windows 8
If you are using Windows 8, you will get the file extensions as follows:
- Open a folder that contains files.
- Click on "View" in the menu bar.
- In the right area of the ribbon, check the "File name extensions" box.
Show file extensions in Windows 10
In Windows 10, the file extensions can be activated in the same way:
- Open any folder.
- Click on the tab titled "View".
- In the "Show / Hide" area, you can now put a tick under "File name extensions".
