Windows recognizes iPod as a network hard drive - what to do?
If Windows recognizes your iPod as a network hard drive, you can neither activate the device with iTunes nor access your music. We'll show you how to fix it.
Windows recognizes iPod as a network hard drive - you can do that
If Windows confuses your iPod with a network, all you have to do is change the drive letter:
- Open the Windows Control Panel, go to "Administrative Tools" and then select "Computer Management".
- Select "Disk management" on the left. Here you will find all connected HDDs and network drives.
- Right-click the iPod icon and choose Change Drive Letter and Path.
- Then select "Change". You can now assign a new drive letter in the new window. However, please note that this must not yet be used by another device.
- Save the changes with "Ok" and confirm the following message with "Yes".
- Finally, you may have to restart your PC to properly connect the iPod.
To ensure that no further errors occur, you should clean your USB connection properly and keep it clean.
