Windows Explorer: Compare folders - how it works
Many people miss a file manager in Windows in order to easily compare two folders. This is possible by running Windows Explorer twice, but it is cumbersome. We show you an alternative with which you can compare folders with little effort.
Windows Explorer: How to compare folders
With Windows Explorer it is possible to compare two folders, but it is tedious. We will first show you how to do it without additional software:
- Open the preinstalled Windows Explorer twice.
- Use your mouse to move one window to the left and the other to the right of your screen.
- Now open the two directories you want to compare. You now have both folders at a glance.
Alternative: Compare folders with muCommander
The muCommander promises clear work in a two-window look. You can also use the program to access local partitions, such as FTP, SFTP, SMB, NFS or HTTP.
- Download and install the muCommander.
- When you start the tool, you will see two windows. This saves you double access to Windows Explorer.
- Select the respective folder in the two windows. Now you can see all the contents of the directories at a glance.
