Windows Explorer: Add programs to favorites
Usually you cannot add programs to your favorites in Windows Explorer - but with a little trick it still works. We'll tell you what you have to do for it.
Outsmart Windows: Add programs to favorites
If you try to drag and drop programs into favorites, you will get the error message "Cannot place in favorites". However, Windows only shows the contents of a certain folder in the favorites column. However, you can copy what you want in these:
- We are talking about the folder "% userprofile% \ Links". If you copy this path into your Windows Explorer, "% userprofile%" is automatically replaced with your user name and the correct folder is called up.
- You can now copy program links or URLs into this folder. They then appear directly under the favorites and you can call them up from there. For example, there is a Chrome shortcut in the screenshot.
If you are still not satisfied with the functions of the in-house file manager, there are many good alternatives to Windows Explorer.
