Windows laptops with touchscreen - which are there?
Windows 8 is optimized for touch screens. No wonder that laptops with touchscreens are booming. You can find out which laptops are available here.
1. Hybrid devices - between tablet and laptop
You don't have much of a touchscreen on a normal laptop because, unlike on a tablet, the operation is rather unwieldy. With so-called "convertibles" you can switch between laptop and tablet - for some you can turn the screen, for some you can even remove it completely.
- The Convertible Ultrabooks include the Sony Vaio Fit multi-flip for around 900 euros. You can choose to turn it into a tablet or notebook. Depending on the model, the equipment ranges up to an Intel® Core ™ i7 processor.
- The Dell XPS Duo 12 is also a real convertible laptop. If necessary, you can simply turn the keyboard to the back of the screen. The hybrid device consisting of tablet and ultrabook has an Intel Ivy Bridge processor and, depending on the configuration, costs at least 1, 100 euros.
2. Windows Ultrabook with touchscreen
The Ultrabook Taichi from Asus has two displays.
- The touchscreen is an additional screen on the outside of the laptop - definitely an eye-catcher!
- The unusual Ultrabook is priced at around 1000 euros.
3. Tablet PC with touchscreen
The big deal: The 11.6-inch Acer Iconia Tab W700 is unusually thick for a tablet.
- But it also hides many laptop features inside, such as a Core i5 processor and three USB 3.0 ports.
4. Inexpensive Windows laptop with touchscreen
- The Aldi netbook "Medion Akoya The Touch" has been one of the cheapest touch laptops since February 2014 for only 299 euros.
- At 1.3 kg, "The Touch" is very light. The touch display of the 10-inch device has a resolution of 1, 366 x 768 pixels and is therefore not Full HD capable.
- It also offers a dual-core AMD A4-1200 (1.0 GHz) processor with integrated Radeon HD 8180 graphics and 4 GB of RAM.
5. The pioneer laptops
The first models of notebooks with touchscreens included the following laptops:
- The super slim Ultrabook Aspire S7 from Acer costs around 1, 400 euros with a fourth generation Intel Core i7-4500U processor. It is one of the thinnest and smallest ultrabooks with 13.3 inches.
- The VivoBook S400CA from Asus has an Intel Core i7-3537U (2.00GHz) processor. It costs around 750 euros and has a responsive 14-inch multi-touch display.
- HP's Envy TouchSmart 4 also has a 14-inch touchscreen and 8 GB of RAM.
- The Samsung Series 5 540U3C has a 13.3-inch HD SuperBright touchscreen and is very thin and light.
The new top models of the Windows laptops with touchscreen are unfortunately still relatively expensive with at least 1, 500 euros. But there are also good inexpensive alternatives, as the CHIP test of the 20 inexpensive touch notebooks under 700 euros shows. And even with the older models shown above, you can make one or two bargains.
