Delete Windows Live ID - Here's how
Do you want to delete your Windows Live ID but fail because of the Microsoft menus? We'll show you how it's done.
Delete Windows Live ID
Deleting a Windows Live ID takes a lot of patience.
- First log in to login.live.com with your Windows Live ID.
- You will then see an "Account overview" on the left.
- There you select the menu item "Close account". You can find it both on the left in the menu as a sub-item of the "Overview" and at the very bottom of the "Account overview" page.
- If you have subscribed to paid services, you are now advised that you must cancel them first.
- Do you really want to delete? Everything related to your account - be it XBox games, game scores or hot mails - will then disappear without revocation.
- Finally, only confirm the account deletion with your password.
- Confirm your account deletion again by clicking the "Confirm Account Deletion" link.
- Now Microsoft wants to know a reason for deleting your account. If you don't want to specify one, select "More".
- If you do not log into your account for a full year, the account will be automatically deleted.
After deleting your account with Windows Live ID, your email address will be kept for 365 days. If you reactivate: The emails have been deleted, however, and incoming mails have been blocked. Why do you need a Windows Live ID again? Here is a little reminder.
