Convert Windows Live Mail to SSL - how it works
Switching Windows Live Mail to SSL increases security when sending and receiving email. We'll show you how to set up encryption here.
Switch Windows Live Mail to SSL
You have to set SSL individually for each of your email accounts:
- In the Windows Live Mail menu bar, click "File". Then move the mouse pointer over the "Options" item and then select "E-mail accounts".
- Double-click the account whose settings you want to edit.
- Switch to the "Advanced" tab. In the "Outbox" and "Inbox" areas, tick both "This server requires a secure connection (SSL)".
- Make sure that the correct server port numbers are entered in the respective input fields. You can find out from your email provider which of these are for your account.
- Confirm with "OK" and close the accounts window.
