Windows Media Player no sound - it can be because
If your Windows Media Player stops playing sound, there can be simple reasons. In this practical tip we will show you how you can solve the problem.
1. System sound deactivated
If you run out of sound in Windows Media Player, your system's audio may be turned off.
- Take a look at the lower right corner of the taskbar. When you see a crossed out speaker icon, audio is turned off from your system.
- Click on the icon and then on the crossed out speaker to reactivate the output. Alternatively, you can move the controller upwards.
2. Audio switched off in Windows Media Player
Another reason for the missing sound can be that the direct audio output in Windows Media Player is deactivated.
- Open the Windows Media Player and look at the play button. There you will also see a loudspeaker symbol.
- If this is crossed out or if the control is quite far to the left, the sound is switched off. To turn the sound back on, drag the slider to the right.
This practical tip was tested under Microsoft Windows 7. The problem can be solved almost identically on other Microsoft operating systems. In another article we will show you how to create playlists in Windows Media Player.
