Windows microphone too quiet - so turn it up

If the microphone is too quiet under Windows, you can usually turn it up two ways. We show you how this works in this guide.
Windows: raise the microphone
- Open the Control Panel and select the "Sound" item under the "Hardware and Sound" category.
- Go to the "Recording" tab above and select your microphone. Then click on the "Properties" button.
- Switch to the "Levels" tab and move the slider to the right.
- Close both windows with the "OK" button to save your settings.
Realtek audio manager: raise the microphone
The Realtek Audio Manager program is preinstalled on many computers. You can use it to configure the microphone, among other things.
- If the program is installed on your computer, you will usually find it at the bottom of the taskbar. You can recognize it by the light brown loudspeaker symbol.
- Go to the "Microphone" tab above. Drag the volume slider to the right at the top to turn up the microphone.
- If your microphone has been connected to an amplifier, you can usually increase the volume using a control.
