In this guide, we show you in detail how you can cut videos with Windows Movie Maker.
Cut videos with Windows Movie Maker
- If you have not yet installed Windows Movie Maker, you can find the program for free download from CHIP Online.
- Start the software and click the specified button to search for videos. Select the file you want to edit.
- The video will appear in the center of the screen after import. While holding down the mouse button, you can navigate the video at a point in time at which you want to cut the clip. Alternatively, you can play the clip in the preview window and stop at the point where you want to start a cut. The spacebar is also suitable for this.
- Then right-click on the "Share" option.
- To remove a selected area, right-click the "Remove" button. The remaining parts of the clip are automatically put together.
- By clicking the "Animations" button you can insert a transition and change the speed. Zoom effects can also be used for images.
- To join several clips, click on the "Add videos and photos" button under the video you have already imported and select the appropriate file. You can also add music files and let them overlap.
- If you want to remove a part at the beginning or at the end of your video, navigate to the corresponding point while holding the mouse button down and right-click on the option "Set start point" or "Set end point".
- You must then save your work on your hard drive using the "Save film" button or export it directly to YouTube, Facebook and Co. by clicking on the corresponding symbol.
- If the correct format is not available, you can convert the film into your desired format with FormatFactory.
