Windows: NumLock deactivated at startup
In this practical tip, we explain what you can do if NumLock is deactivated when Windows starts.
Activate NumLock automatically at start
If NumLock should be activated by default at startup, you have to make a change in the Windows registry.
- Open the registry editor with the key combination Windows key + R and type in "regedit". Confirm with "OK".
- Navigate to the branch "HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Control Panel \ Keyboard" via the right display. Click on "Keyboard" so that the keyboard entries are shown in the left display.
- Now double-click on "InitialKeyboardIndicators" and change the value there from 0 to 2. Confirm the change with "OK".
- Tip: If there is a completely different value here, such as 556, increase the value by two, namely to 558.
In the next practical tip, we will show you how to undo changes in the registry.
