Data Sense is a permanently integrated app on your Windows Phone 8 that cannot be uninstalled. But what is data sense? We clarify the question in this practical tip.
With Data Sense, you can keep an eye on data consumption
With Data Sense you can analyze your data consumption on your Windows smartphone.
- The overview in the app shows you how much traffic you have over the mobile network. The information about 3G data consumption is particularly interesting. There is often an inclusive volume for mobile phone contracts, for example 300 MB per month.
- Before throttling arrives, surf at LTE or HSDPA speed up to 100MBit / s. If you exceed the data volume, you will be throttled to GPRS speed in most cases - that is 56KB / s. That is why you will find the "Set limit" setting in the app. This enables you to see at a glance how many days are left and how much data is still available. To do this, of course, you have to take your volume from your contract.
- Under "Usage" you can also see how high your data consumption is via WLAN. Here, too, it is broken down how much traffic is generated by applications. For example, you can see that you have used 18MB over 3G and 755MB over WiFi with Internet Explorer.
In another practical tip, we will show you how to optimally manage your storage on Windows Phone 8.
