Windows Phone 8: Manage storage
In this practical tip, we will show you how to manage the memory of your Windows Phone 8.
Windows Phone 8: View storage usage
You can manage the storage comfortably under Windows Phone:
- First open the settings and select the item "Mobile phone storage".
- Here you can see the storage space usage of the internal memory and the SD card (if available).
- Tap on "SD card" to open a detailed view.
- The detailed view gives you information about the exact distribution: you can see how much memory is used for pictures or music and videos.
Manage location for multimedia content on Windows Phone 8
For Windows Phone owners who use an SD card, another point is interesting: In the overall view, you can change the storage location for music, videos and pictures. If you have a device with 8 or 16 GB, it is worth exporting the files mentioned to the SD card. This leaves enough space for apps.
- To save music and videos on the SD card, switch the selection from "Handy" to "SD-Karte".
- You can save pictures on your memory card if you select "SD card" under "Save new pictures to".
