If you don't have WiFi at your fingertips, your Windows Phone will help you via tethering. This turns your mobile phone into a mobile hotspot. We'll show you how to set up the hotspot and what to look out for.
Set up tethering on Windows Phone
- Open the application list by swiping left on the home page. There you will find the settings.
- Swipe to the point "Internet sharing", tap on it and slide the control to the right to "On".
- If you have never used the share, you still have to configure your hotspot with the "Set up" button.
- Assign a freely selectable name and password for your network there. You also have to enter this data if you want to connect to your hotspot.
- There you can also choose whether the connection should take place via WLAN or Bluetooth. Bluetooth is much slower but more energy efficient (see picture).
- Please note that you will use up your mobile data volume when you have connected to your mobile phone. For example, you should avoid video streaming if your data volume is small.
Instead of your Windows Phone, you can also use a separate hotspot - we will give you the best tips for the right choice.
