Windows Phone: WLAN optimization - what is it?
Windows Phone 8.1 comes with a new function: WiFi optimization. That sounds good, but what's behind it? We will show you in our practical tip.
Windows Phone 8.1: WLAN optimization should make everything easier
The goal of WLAN optimization is to save data volume and at the same time to simplify the registration in WLAN networks.
- If you activate the WLAN optimization on your cell phone, your cell phone automatically logs into open WLAN networks. To do this, it accepts the terms of use if necessary and provides your data if necessary.
- Another function of WLAN optimization is the release of WLAN networks. If you activate this function, you can share selected WLAN networks with your contacts. These can then connect to the network without a password.
Adjust WiFi optimization
You can activate or deactivate the above options as required:
- Go to the settings in the application list and select "WLAN".
- Swipe down and tap Wi-Fi Optimization.
- Activate the option "Connect to WLAN hotspots" and decide which data you would like to enter if required.
- Below you will find the option "Share selected WiFi networks". If you activate this, you can select which contacts you want to share WLAN networks with.
- Go back to "WiFi", tap on a WiFi network and activate the "Share network with contacts" option to share the network.
In the next practical tip, we will show you all the new functions of Windows Phone 8.1.
