Windows Phone: Show WLAN password
If you forgot your WiFi password, but your Windows Phone is connected to the network - luckily you can have it displayed. However, this only works via a detour.
Show WiFi password on Windows Phone - does it work?
For security reasons, it is not possible to display the password directly. However, you can use WiFi optimization to share the network with your contacts.
- Windows Phone 8.1 enables a WiFi network to be shared with Facebook friends, Outlook and Skype contacts, provided that they have activated WiFi optimization.
- If you log on to a Windows 8 PC with the same user account as on your cell phone, the WLAN settings are automatically transmitted and you can use all known networks on both devices without having to enter the password.
- With a Windows PC, you can then simply display the WLAN password.
Enable WiFi optimization on the Windows Phone
To enable a WiFi network for your contacts, you need to activate WiFi optimization.
- Open the settings in the application list and tap on "WLAN".
- Then tap on "WLAN optimization" at the bottom.
- Swipe down and activate the "Share selected Wi-Fi networks" option.
- Now choose which contacts you want to allow access to your known networks.
- Go back one level to "WiFi" and tap on the network you want to share.
- Activate the option "Share network with contacts". Your selected contacts can now use the WiFi network without entering a password.
